What’s this Tour about?

The aim of Des Europe & Des Hommes is to travel across France, so as to create a gigantic brainstorming on Europe… and how to make it a better Union!
gt
How so?
gt
From 12 October 2016 to 18 April 2017, Baptiste and Ariane (that’s us!) have been touring the country during 172 days by car. We have been meeting around 5 000 citizens from all backgrounds and ages, and talk about European issues as well as how to address European integration’s flaws. The idea is not a simple chat – it is a call for citizens to push for ideas to resolve the EU faults they themselves highlight.
gt

Now that the Tour is over, we intend to create a book that would sum up the propositions pushed forward by the citizens we met (both IRL and online), on topics as diverse as education to Europe, EU coverage in the media, institutional reform ideas for the EU, etc. In parallel with the book, we intend to send decision-makers and executives a public summary of our Tour de France, commented and solidified by EU experts and academics.

Additionally to our book and political report inspired by citizens’ participation, our project’s priority is to have EU issues more visible in the French media.

gt
Our goal? To reconnect citizens to their Europe, by giving them incentives to imagine solutions to the problems they identified. In this sense, our project is connected to policy topics in a more citizen way, less elites-oriented yet directed to these elites.
gt
Are you interested in our project? If so, we look forward to hearing from you or to reading your very own propositions for tomorrow’s Europe!
